Scope
- The OCLC Authorities File
(AF)
include standardized Names, Titles, and Subject headings. These
facilitate two processes:
- The creation of consistent
library catalog records.
- The searching of online
library catalogs.
The
AF
records come from:
- Library of Congress
(LC)
- National Authority File
(NAF).
- NACO libraries, which are allowed
to create records for addition to the
NAF.
- SACO libraris, which are allowed
to create records for addition to the SAF.
OCLC Cataloging
Subscribers are allowed to:
- Edit Authority
Records.
- Download ("export") Authority
Records to their local library automation systems.
