OCLC's Inter-Library Loan (ILL) Service

Scope

• OCLC's PRISM offers an Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service that enables the borrowing and lending of books and other materials among the thousands of libraries that are members of the service.
• These libraries contain hundreds of millions of cataloged items that could be shared with other libraries.
• The ILL service enables subscribing libraries to electronically:
  • Determine which libraries have items wanted locally.
  • Request loans from those libraries.
  • Track borrowing.
  • Track usage patterns.

Accessing the ILL database

• ILL is accessed by typing the following after entering the PRISM service:
  • Login: Get from instructor <control> <c>
  • Password: Get from instructor <control> <c>
