OCLC's Union List (UL)

Scope

• The PRISM Union List (UL) service enables libraries to do more effectively manage their periodical collections by supporting several processes:
  • Cooperative cataloging of periodicals.
  • Determining which institutions may have a periodical that you need.
  • Utilizing shared periodical holdings more efficiently.

Accessing the Union List database

• Telnet to the PRISM service.
  • telnet://connect.oclc.org
• Enter the PRISM log-on statement:
  • c prismt*k1 <control c>
• Enter the UL log-on number (provided in class) followed by <control c>
• Enter the UL password (provided in class) followed by <control c>

  NOTE: DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO ANY OF THE ITEM OR NAD RECORDS.
