PRISM - Displaying Search Results

Automatic Displays

• If only one record matches a search, the Full Record is displayed.
  • fu (full) is the complete MARC record
• If more 2 to 5 records are returned, PRISM shows them in a Brief Record display.
  • br (brief) is a citation format
  • Display any record as a full record by selecting a number, then <^c>
• If 6-to-99 records are retrieved, than PRISM displays a Truncated List
  • tr (truncated) is a series of lines
  • Display any record as a full record by selecting a number, then <^c>
  • To page down through records, type: pdn <^c>
• If 100-to-1500 records are returned in a search, than PRISM displays them as Groups of records divided by ranges of years.
  • gr (group) is the code
  • To select a group of records to display, type the number of the group then <^c>

Display Command

Alternatively, the searcher can directly choose how to display records by using the Display Command ( dis ) and the abbreviation for the Display Format/Type

Goback Command

• The Goback command ( gob ) returns you to a list that you have already viewed.
• The Goback command can be used in combination with a Display Type/Format.
• Examples:
  • gob fu
  • gob tr
