"RLIN Terminal for
Windows" software has long been available to facilitate
technical services operations using the RLG databases. A new
Windows-based technical services client replaced it in
2003.
This enables the use of the
local library system's interface to access RLG databases.
Z39.50 is an intermediate software standard that converts the
local system's commands into those understood by the RLG
databases.
This allows use of familiar
commands for using the RLG bibliographic databases.
It requires a Z39.50 client
software on the local computer as well as a Z39.50 server at
the other end.
