The Library Automation System
market is a highly competitive one with no one vendor dominating
it.
Vendors tend, though, to target
certain market segments more than others.
Innovative
Interfaces (Innopac),
Ameritech
(Dynix & Horizon
LASs),
and
Sirsi (Unicorn), for
example, usually target medium to large public and academic
libraries, while
Caspr,
Follett,
and
Winnebago
market mainly to small to medium libraries, mostly K-12
schools.
The markets they target relates,
in part, to the scale of the hardware and software and amount of
data that the companies' respective LAS support.
