MELVYL: The Web-based Interface

Scope

• The Web-based inerface to MELVYL was introduced in 1997-1998.
• As with the Telnet-based interface, only certain databases are accessible to the general public (those without current UC student, faculty, or staff status).
• The Web-based interface is slower to use than the Telnet-based one, but new searchers generally find it easier to use.
