Searching MELVYL: Utility Commands: Set

Scope

• The set command is used to change the default settings that are automatically set at the beginning of a new session.
• These settings determine how the MELVYL system processes your searches and displays your results.
• When you change a setting, it remains in effect until you log off, set it again, or reset it.

Some of the settings that can be changed:

Settings that Apply to Searches
set database	changes database
set date	change publication date setting for book searches
set form	changes form of material searched for
set language	changes language setting for searchers
set library	changes library setting for searches and displays
set mode	changes dialogue mode

Settings that Apply to Displays
set display	changes display options for book records
set display acf	changes display options for authority records
set display browse	changes display options for browse results
set display pe	changes display options for periodicals search results
set terminal	changes terminal type
set timeout	changes the length of time before session times out (maximum 30 minutes)
