TURNING IN
ASSIGNMENTS
- The assignments require the
utilization of the knowledge that you gain in class and
readings.
- Note: There will be an
AUTOMATIC
10% OFF if the assignment is not turned in on
time.
- Assignments
must be
turned in at the beginning of
class.
- If you can not attend
class, send the assignment to me by
the day of the class the assignment is
due.
- Send by:
- E-mail
- if the assignment is no more that a few pages of answers.
I need to receive the email on
the date it is due.
- Mail -
if the assignment requires database records for every question.
The assignment has
to be postmarked the date it is due.
- Absolutely NO
assignments will be accepted after March 26.
PRESENTATION
This is college. I
expect college-quality presentation of your answers to the search
questions. This means, generally, typing your answers and presenting
the requested "record" that results from your searches.
- Typing &
Block Printing
- Everything
that is turned in must , as
required by the individual
assignment,
be:
- Typed
- This includes name, date, assignment. name, and
answers,
- or,
if absolutely necessary,
- Block
printed - This is allowed when you answer on one of the
online forms I provide for certain assingments.
The
block printing must be absolutely clean and readable. I will
take off 10% if the printing is difficult to read.
Clear
communication is an implicit part of information
services.
- I will
NOT
accept
assignments written in script.
- Database
Searching Assignments
- Depends upon
the database being searched. See
the directions for each
assignment.
- General
Directions: Turn in
- A cover
page for each assignment with typed Name, Assignment
Name, and Date.
- For each
question, attach a database record (article with
bibliographic information and relevant page(s)) that answers
each search question. The specific answer to the search
question must
be highlighted in
a light (preferably yellow) color. DO NO provide
the entire atricle, just the pages that contain:
- 1. The
bibliographic information.
- 2. The
answer itself. Remember it must be highlighted.
- I
will take off if the bibliographic information is not
included or the answer is not highlighted.
GRADING
- A
= 90-plus points
- B
= 80-89 points
- C
= 70-79 points
- D
= 60-69 points
- F
= 59 or less points
CHEATING &
COPYING POLICY
- The "Academic
Honor Code" of Foothill College prohibits "any incidents of
academic dishonesty, including cheating or plagiarism." As a
consequence, ANY copying of answers or materials to answer
any assignment in this class will receive an "F" for
that assignment. The code goes on to allow such additional
penalties as "a lower course grade, receipt of an F in the
course, disciplinary probation or suspension, or
expulsion."
- Specifically, I support you
helping each other to understand and develop strategies for
finding answers to the assignments, BUT
I expect you to do the searching and answering of the search
problems individually.
